If you climb onto the big rocks with the garden around it and look down you see this:
And, in this crevice lives a fat brown gopher-groundhog-woodchuck-creature! I was actually a little bit nervous that he might pop up to say hello while I was standing at his front door, so I was ready to jump, but he was either in there paralyzed with fear or else out hunting for dinner. (Come to think of it, wouldn't it be funny if it's him that's eating my flowers?) We see him occasionally when we pull into the driveway. He usually waddles at top speed back to his hidey hole as soon as he sees us.(I don't exactly know what creature this is, but there's a blog I like called So Now What? and if you look at the square picture on the right, sometimes I imagine my little brown friend is going to pop out looking like that one of these days...)
You should approach that rock armed in the future.
ReplyDeleteI thought they are all the same, but they're not. Groundhog and Woodchuck are the same, a Gopher is different.
ReplyDeleteJust ask greenskeeper Carl Spackler.
We have a local groundhog who comes to visit, although not as often since the vegetation was leveled outside. However, I can attest to the fact that they do eat flowers...But they're so darn cute doing it...
