John's Opinion on the BEST Ice Cream Flavor

John from Hot Rods in the Hudson Valley has informed me that in regard to Edy's Chocolate Fudge Chunk Ice Cream: "I decree it to be the best there is. I will never need any other. Done." So of course I HAD to try it. Got me some at Hannaford last week.

A side note about my trip to Hannaford. I used the "facilities" there, and scratched into the toilet paper holder was, "Saten is my master". Call me crazy, but if you're going to hail someone as your master, maybe learning how to spell their name might be first on your agenda? Anyway, someone else scratched in "Jesus loves you anyway" next to it, so I felt a little better. Although does Jesus love this person anyway because they're so stupid they don't even know how to spell Satan? Or because they're so stupid to call Satan their master? Probably both if you ask me. I have in the past seen people misspell Satan as "Satin", but "Saten" was a new one for me, anyway. Back to the ice cream story.

I was very dubious that this flavor, which didn't really sound terribly exciting, was going to be "all that". But, I do highly regard John's opinions, so I gave it a try. Well, I must say, I cannot honestly say that for me it is the one ice cream I would take with me if I were stranded on an island, however, it FAR exceeded my expectations. If you like chocolate ice cream, this is some gooooood chocolate ice cream. It's a really good, rich, chocolate flavor ice cream with a very generous portion of chocolate chunks (they're kinda small though), with a ribbon of fudge running through it. It's so good I had a second bowl of it at like 11:00 last night, and honestly, I NEVER eat TWO bowls of ice cream in an evening. (Wasn't I just posting about that "Don't Eat So Much Diet"? Anyone know of any good new diet pills??? Just kidding, heh.)

If you're interested to see what other ice creams I've already tried, you can see this post, and this post. They're not even paid reviews, I just love ice cream! :-) If you know of a flavor that you think is "all that", let me know and if I can get it, I'll try it.

The end.

  1. The best ice cream I've ever had is Creme Brulee by Haagen Dazs. It was a limited edition several years ago, and I haven't ever seen it again...but I look every now and again just in case it's reintroduced. My second favorite is Chocolate Peanut Butter. Update: I just went to the Haagen Dazs site to ensure I was listing my flavors correctly, and they have a feature where you can choose a flavor of ice cream and put in a zip code to find a store that has that flavor...and in Kew Garden Hills in Queens, there is a store that just received a shipment of Creme Brulee...I strongly urge anyone to take a ride down...it will be worth it. ;)

  2. Post update: There is a store within a more reasonable driving distance from here, and it would most certainly be worth an outing...bring a friend and a spoon...feel free to bring me. ;)
A note about Creme Brulee...it's custard flavored ice cream with a ribbon of bruleed sugar through the middle. It's the best I've ever had...ice cream anyway. ;) Anyway, if you share your ice cream, you're only eating half as many calories. :D And, otherwise noteworthy, if you sign up for it, Haagen Dazs will send you an email every time your favorite flavor of ice cream is delivered to a store of your choosing. :)

  3. Just to clarify:

Satan is the Lord of the Underworld.

Saten is the Lord of the Stinky Supermarket Public Bathroom.

Also, it's not Jesus, it's (Hay-zeus). He will deliver unto you a new roll of paper.

  5. The last ice cream that I ate was a Klondike bar and I can't say that I am very adventurous with all those flavors. Every once in awhile I get the urge, but I normally settle for vanilla or chocolate, boring aren't I?

  7. I am sooooooo hungry for a good chocolate ice cream. I have two problems. The first is that I have to be very careful about the processed sugar content in ice cream and other foods after having gastric bypass surgery. The second problem is that I had periodontal surgery in April and my teeth are super sensitive to cold. Living vicariously through others experiences eating ice cream just doesn't do it for me.

  10. Oh yeah, and, BTW, any other ice cream that DOESN'T HAVE peanut butter in it is quite good. Don't get me wrong, I like PB, but it seems that every party I go to, there's ALWAYS PB in the ice cream so I always decline. ENOUGH PEOPLE!!!

  11. I have a question: Is the cow's name Carole? I actually prefer that spelling to mine, and it is a cute cow.

I have another question: Why is everyone blogging about ice cream today? I just don't think I can handle it...I'm going after the Blue Bell right now!

  12. Carol, actually no, the cow's name is Moocow, and thanks - yes, I kind of like the E on the end of my name, however people often leave it off which is kind of annoying - if it makes you feel any better, you're probably better off without the E - it would be easier. :-)

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
