A favorite thread of mine at the Two Peas Not-Scrap-Book-Related forum is the one that occasionally pops up called, "What's For Dinner?".
I don't know why but I LOVE to hear what other people are having for dinner, especially because the readership at that message board comes from all over the country and all over the world.
Plus sometimes it helps give ME ideas of what to make for dinner - I don't know about you, but sometimes I get "Dinner Block". (It's very similar to "Writer's Block"). I know, who would think it's so hard to think of what to make for dinner? But it is!
So please tell me - what are you having for dinner? (Or if you already ate, tell me what you had - or even if you went to a restaurant, tell me about that!)
Edited to add: see comments for what I had for dinner
I've had a bad case of dinneritis this month. Maybe it's because my back injury is acting up again... I am disappointed to be the first to comment because I wanted to see what everyone else is having! Like you, I love to learn about foods other folks eat, especially in other countries.
ReplyDeleteSo, to answer your Q... what I have in mind right now is eggplant casserole with pasta. I cook ground beef & sausage and sprinkle it on cubed eggplant, dump in a can of diced tomatoes, add some peppers, basil, oregano, and top with Mozz cheese. I bake for about 30 mins and serve with pasta.
:) How about you?
Oh Mrs. Mecomber, that sounds soooo good. I recently came across your recipe for Chicken Riggies (sp?) and I have to try those too, you seem like a very good cook. I don't have one single ounce of Italian in me, but I WISH I did! To answer my own question, I must admit, I am SICK of bbq-ing. I've been eatin' BBQ all summer. I am SO ready for casseroles, and pasta and roasts and crockpot...etc. However, I know DH loves to get every drop out of BBQ season, so I had chicken on hand to BBQ. But I was just out of inspiration. So I told DH, "There's chicken. There's spices and rubs in the cabinet. Work your magic, I'm out of ideas." So I left him to his own devices and 30 min later we had some delicious BBQ chicken, with corn and "zesties" french fries. Turns out he used olive oil and Emeril's "Essence" on the chicken. It was REALLY good, I thought it would have been spicier, but it was just right. Plus, when DH makes things, he adds "love" which always makes things taste better. :-)
ReplyDeleteAll I am saying, is give peas a chance.
ReplyDeleteHi Carole,
ReplyDeleteDinner tonight was at Laugerman Harley Davidson in York, PA and it consisted of a hotdog, a cup of bricker fries with vinegar and salt, a bottle of spring water and for dessert a cherry snow ice.
Last night was more my cup of tea with a rare high protein steak and whiting fish on the grill with lemon pepper. Time for a cocktail for my anxiety from being around all those bikers.
I made a whole turkey dinner! Its my dh's favorite meal, and he has been gone a month, and is leaving for another month again.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah. The whole works. It was sooo yummy. Then we went to my parents house for a big family (all my other sibling's families) dessert share. I'm stuffed!
Last night and Friday night were Football Nights so we had burgers Friday and Pizza Saturday. Sundays here are always a fend for yourself deal since it's my only day off. Tommorrow though we're having Roasted Potatoes, with Broiled Salmon and a salad.
ReplyDeleteTonight we are having Ceasar Salad Pizza. Last night we paid the second most we've ever paid for the least amount of food...surprise, at the fair. For about 1/2 cup of lemonade with 1 1/2 cups of ice and a roasted ear of corn, we paid $9. For dessert we had 4H shakes which were $3.50...much more reasonable, and that's for 24 oz. of yummy shake! The most we've ever paid for the least was at a fancy French restaurant on Long Island.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing what other people are having for dinner, too. I used to be on Weight Watchers, and that was my favorite thread. We'd all list everything we ate for each meal. I loved the creativity some people showed.
ReplyDeleteIf my stomachache goes away, I'll be having a takeout cheeseburger and fries. Ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion. Maybe ice cream for dessert. Hmmm. I think my stomachache just went away.
JD at I Do Things
I'm happy to say that I'm pretty good at "dinner". I try to change it around a fair bit and make it economcal too. Tonight unusually for a Sunday, we are having a chicken dinner made to a recipe with all fresh herbs and spices.
ReplyDeleteSome ham & 'taters and a ritz cracker.
ReplyDeleteJude: Both your dinners sounded really good, but I don't know what "bricker fries" are? You've got my curiosity up.
ReplyDeleteGlitzen: Ohhhhh! I am dying to start cooking roasts and casseroles and stuff, I'm so SICK of BBQ. A turkey dinner sounds soooo gooood!
Nessa: When we were kids occasionally on the weekends we'd have a "fend for yourself" night and me and my brother thought that was the greatest thing ever!
Krissy: I've never had Cesar Salad pizza, that sounds intriguing. Yeah, the fair food can be a total rip off. We made a big effort to save money at the fair this year by packing a lunch (so we eliminated a meal we had to eat there), brought our own stash of water bottles, and we ate some of our meals at the Grange Snack bar where the prices were WAAAY cheaper. The 4H snack bar had really good prices too. Did you know that 4H does not have anything to do with the shakes? Everyone assumes they're part of 4H because they're right next to the 4H snack bar, and the shakes are in the 4H building, but they're not actually part of 4H. I only found that out myself a few years ago.
JD: I've done Weight Watchers before and I had to laugh when you said people used "creativity" for their meals. I ate stuff on WW I would never have dreamed of eating but hey, it was only "1 point"! I think too many veggieburgers traumatized me for life.
Doll Clothes Gal: Your chicken dinner sounds great. I wonder when I can officially call BBQ season over? :-)
A Valdese Blogger: I think you should go wild and crazy and have TWO Ritz crackers, live it up!
Actually, the 4H shake confusion was a main point of conversation on the very long line to get a shake...people were talking about how they never really knew the 4H shake wasn't REALLY a 4H shake...the question then is, WHAT IS IT????? Oh, the CONSPIRACY! Call Hillary! LOL :)
ReplyDeletePuh-leez - let's not call Hillary on anything we don't have to. :-)
