...as much as I normally love politics I just feel really disgusted right now with all the name-calling, attacks and just plain rudeness from BOTH sides. I repeat, BOTH SIDES.
It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. As I watch tv, listen to the radio, visit blogs, and read "news" articles on websites, some of the talk is so childish, so rude, so blatantly biased I just can't listen to it another minute! It's like a pop up tv - everywhere I turn, there it is, I can't get away from it. The closer the election is getting, it seems the attacks are getting less and less intelligent, and more immature.
And some people actually seem to be enjoying the mudslinging; there's this gleefulness in tearing down the other side AND their supporters!
And it's not like I can't appreciate a good joke - I have no problem with the late night hosts poking fun at the candidates, or when Saturday Night Live does their skits, and I really enjoy the political cartoons - but there's a BIG difference in joking around and being downright vindictive, mean-spirited, and insulting.
So to whoever is reading this, whichever candidate you support, I want you to know I STILL RESPECT YOU.
I thank God we live in a country where we have a choice - It's a shame we have to be so petty and vindictive in the process.
I'm so sick of it, if I could roll my eyes straight into the back of my head right now I would!
The end.
AMEN!
ReplyDeleteAmen again!
ReplyDeleteMy two-year-old put stickers on the tv. It's great to watch the candidates on CNN with Sesame Street stickers all over their faces. This helps me a lot when I get angry at all the mud-slinging...
ReplyDeleteI'll third the Amen.
ReplyDeleteThe candidates and their political advisors have found that all this trash talk is what fires people up, regardless of the outcome, it gets them discussing the "Race for the White House." And a Race it is, every man and woman for themselves. It's sad but true and I don't like the party politics at all, I think there should be a co-presidency, one democratic and one republican.
ReplyDeleteHaven't we evolved far enough to stop the petty bickering?
I hear ya. I had a lady come to my house today and ask me who I was voting for. Nunya!! None of your business.
ReplyDeleteBTW, she was campaigning for Obama.
I have made it clear i really like Obama but i feel the same way. I can't wait for it to be over. You know things are screwed up when breaking News is that "Bristol Palin's baby daddy is going to be at the RNC" UGH, poor girl.
ReplyDeleteThe main thing is, the attacks are personal, usually about family members, and have absolutely nothing to do with the issues.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%! I just wish both sides plus the media could just stick to the issues--so people could make a intelligent choice when voting.
ReplyDeleteITA!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one. Well worded.
Amanda
It's disgusting. And yes, drives me nuts when there is real news in the world and all they talk about is gossip. I turn off the tv!
ReplyDeleteTupoi
I agree. I don't like the name-calling, either. I guess it's part of politics, but it can really turn you off sometimes, right?
ReplyDeletei could not have said it better. ITA!
ReplyDeletepreach it sista!
ReplyDeletehee hee. i admit, i am guilty of feeling a bit energized by a good political round house...but by all means, lets keep it friendly! I agree completely.
its been fun for me to sit back and watch sarah win people over, because ya know, i am just darn proud of her and proud to claim her as our governor.
great post!
Hi! I pass by and cannot resist to write!I'm from Europe and from here people are hoping that you people vote a candidate for what he's going to do for the mundial economy..so pleese!Don't vote someone only because of her sex, family, color..if they shoot guns or if they smoked pot! Stick to the future and choose the best for the world, with peace and respect for human and nature!(I woudn't like Alaska to get transformed to a Swiss cheese!!)
