What Should I do With This?

Last time when I was up at our little piece of property in the Adirondacks, I picked up these pine cones and pine needles from our lot to take home to kinda, you know, remind me of our little spot.  I wanted to display them somewhere so I could look at them often and have happy thoughts.  Except, I really don't know what to do with them.  I got as far as spreading them onto a paper towel to dry out a bit (the pine cones were quite sappy and sticky).  Which looks nice, don't get me wrong, but I think I can do better than this.  Only, what?

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can display this?  I was thinking in a little bowl or dish, but that seems kind of lame.  Anyone have any better ideas for my little "pine cones of happy thoughts"?

The end.

  1. How about using them in a floral display ... perhaps a candle holder ring?

  2. My kids did something for art where they glued leaves and cones to a piece of white cardboard they had colored. (Use hot glue gun not Elmer's). Would that work?

  3. Perhaps put them in some sort of clear glass decorative jar...thing.

Am I the only one that has noticed that OREO Double Stuf cookies are really only about 1-1/2 Stuf?

  4. Maybe you could get one of those little shadow boxes and put some kind of decorative backing or even an enlarged photo of your property and hot glue it to that and hang it on your wall.

  5. I was going to suggest a shadow box, and saw that Jude beat me to it!

  6. You could make a wreath with them. That's what I'd do.

  7. Sadly, I am craftily challenged so I can't offer much help. I do like the shadow box idea.

  8. I'd scatter it in your yard so that it can make friends with the pine cones and pine needles in your lawn of your primary house.

  9. You guys have some GREAT ideas!

Except for Kevin. You silly! :-P

I think I feel like I should have taken a few more pine cones and whatnot to make some of these nice ideas. But, it's ok because I think soon we're going to be able to stop by our property again and I'm going to grab some more "whatnot" so I can make something really good using one of these ideas.

    Thank you everyone!

  11. I saw your post yesterday and couldn't come up with anything, so today, I had to come back and see what suggestions you got. I particularly like Kevin's, just kidding!
I really like the shadow box idea, it's a memory box!

  12. You can make a table display out of it. Simply add some ribbon and some candles and vola Autumn decorations just got a little cheaper.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
