Oh Why Do I Let It Pile Up?

No, it's not what you think.  That's not dirty laundry.  Oh no, it's CLEAN laundry.  I don't let the dirty stuff pile up - oh no sir!  But clean laudry?  Piling that up is my specialty, as you can see.  Look at how tall that far pile is!

I have no trouble washing, drying and folding the laundry.  It is even pre-sorted into baskets for each family member.  My washer and dryer are even upstairs, so our bedrooms are but footsteps away.

Why, I wonder, don't I just take that last step and PUT IT AWAY?!?

Do you want to know why those piles are especially tall this week?

It's because I NEVER PUT AWAY LAST WEEK'S CLEAN LAUNDRY!  D'oh!

(Wow, now that I look at my hallway, it looks so plain, doesn't it?  Maybe I need to put up some pictures or home theater sconces or something to jazz it up!)

So now that I've shared one of my many embarrassing shortcomings, what silly little chore do you hate and often leave undone?  Leave the cap off the toothpaste?  Hate to put the new roll of toilet paper on?  Never clean out the coffeepot?

C'mon, fess up and make me feel better!

The end, but not really - I want to hear what you have to say!

  2. You're a better person than me. I barely fold my laundry and then I let it sit in a gigantic mountain on top of the dryer, which makes my husband insane. He's usually the one to move it upstairs. In my defense, he never vacuums. That' my gig.

  3. I make everyone put away their own laundry and it seems to work. I recommend that method, then you can blame someone else for the piles of laundry (suddenly, it is someone else's shortcoming). My kids are really good about putting away their laundry, it is my husband whose stuff takes over the laundry room, attacking anyone who walks by.

  5. I give you credit!!! You fold them. I have them pile unfolded most of the weeks. It always catches up to me.

  6. Oh I am so like you in some ways. I do not fold mine - *sigh* who ever invented ironing?

  7. Well, up until 6 (or are we now at 7?) weeks ago, I too had major issues with getting the laundry *done*. I must confess that I rarely got it to the point YOU have in your photo. Washed and dried, but rarely folded and almost never put away. It was awful. It gave me anxiety attacks to just go downstairs where our laundry area is in the basement. In mid-Sept, I finally had enough. I got it all caught up. I bought two dressers to LEAVE down there so my son's clothes and my clothes STAY down there now. My dh's laundry is super easy (jeans and tee's) so I can do his in one shot. My dd is responsible for taking hers to her own room and do whatever she does with her clothes. So, laundry USED to be my nemesis. Now? It's just house cleaning in general :)

  8. At least you get the folding done! I don't mind the 'putting away' but the folding! ACK! I have 3 loads of clean laundry that need to be folded and put away this morning. Guess I should go do that.

How about mating socks? Is there ANY household task worse than that? I'd rather scrub toilets than mate socks.

  9. Wow, you sorted it all out in a separate pile for each person? Then I would think each person could put away their own clothes. Why should you have to do it all? That makes no sense to me.

Hm, chore I hate, I suppose I put off cleaning my computer longer than I should.

  10. I have clean laundry all over the living room...feed the baby, fold some stuff, feed the baby, feed the baby, change the baby, feed the baby, fold another thing, get DS, chase DS, feed the baby, chase DS, feed the baby, change the baby, chase DS, put the kids to bed, fold another item.......collapse....hear the baby crying...never get around to anything else. :) Thank God for DH who washes and dries laundry and does most everything else these past few weeks. :)

  11. I am the same way. I will wash, dry, and sometimes fold the clothes but they never get put away.

I will also let the sink overflow with dirty dishes before washing them. And once they do get washed, they don't get put away. They sit in the drainer thing until we use them.

  12. I don't rinse out the coffee pot and I don't sweep or mop (Joe does that) I will burn the little bit of coffee in the bottom of the pot and bitch about little bits of whatever sticking to my feet as I walk across our wooden floors.

  15. Ohhhh, I'm all there! My laundry landing pad is the dining room table. It's also the homeschooling table, and an eating table when it gets all cleared off or when my stepkids visit and we have all 7 kids here for dinner.

I have a garage laundry rooms, and a two-year-old whoknows the sandbox is in the garage and who looooves tog et out there and play. Obviously he can't be out there by himself, so I have to dart out when he's not looking to do the wash. It piles up more often than not. BUT I do have a 10 year old daughter who likes to help out and get things done, so we work in tandem. THe other day we folded and put away 5 baskets of wash from the dining room vefore we could start our schoolwork. We had to find the table.

  16. Me, too. I don't mind sorting, washing, drying, folding, hanging. . . even ironing! It's true; I don't mind ironing.

But I can not seem to get that junque put back into their respective drawers and closets.

Thank heavens my kids do it for me. heh.

(Krissy, it does get better. Hang in there.)

  17. OMG! What I hate the most is sorting socks. I usually leave them in the laundry basket and let everyone find a matching pair themselves!

  18. I almost NEVER put away all of my clean clothes. I fold them, I bring them into my room and put them on my bed, and then walk away. When it's time for bed, I put them on my shelf next to my bed.

Then I just go through the week pulling clothes from there-I don't intend to do it that way, it's just the way it happens...

  20. I absolutely hate to clean out the fridge...I leave leftovers for waaaaaay too long, and I might scrub the fridge a total of three times a year, (hours before relatives arrive!)
It's most embarrassing because my mom was a total fridge-nazi, and if she ever saw how bad mine gets *sigh* she might just disown me. (It's one of the few upsides to living 3000 miles apart.)

  21. Oh I hear you on this one!
I don't even there to post a pic of the huge pile I have to iron!
That's the house chore I hate the most!....
