Thanksgiving Menu

(I have been cleaning and cleaning.  I am so tired of cleaning.)

We're having 15 people.
Here's what I'm planning (yes, I'm assuming you care):

Appetizers:

Vegetables and Dip
Cheese and crackers and pepperoni
Chips and french onion dip
Jalapeno poppers
Mozzarella sticks and sauce
Spinach and cheese hot pastry
Cheese doodles
Mixed nuts

Meal:

Turkey
Gravy
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Corn
Rolls and butter
Macaroni and Cheese
Turnip (not Turnip of Power Turnip, just plain turnip)
Cranberry sauce
"Mom's" Cranberry sauce (it's made with jello and some other stuff, it's really good, like "jazzed up" cranberry sauce)
Sweet potato dish (the one with the marshmallows on top)

Drinks:

Wine, Beer, Soda and Seltzer

Dessert:

Apple pie
Chocolate pudding pie
Banana Bread
Strawberry trifle
Pumpkin Pie
Ferraro Rocher candies
Bailey's Irish Cream candies

Did I forget anything???

The end.

  2. Love the menu! I had never heard of mac and cheese on thanksgiving until i spent a winter in Mobile, AL. It was a special request from my step daughter-in-law. So I made my grandmother's recipe with cheddar cheese, toasted bread crumbs on top,..and she was very disappointed,.. she had wanted the box variety! ACK! Gotta laugh!
My mother always made the cranberry sauce with the jello, too. A real family favorite.

  3. Mmm yum...I took a photo for you of the new American Girl store at the Mall of America and it's on my blog. I haven't checked to see if you saw it yet, lol.

We were talking about doing a baked mac and cheese this year. For the vegetarian kid who likes dairy.

    Sounds very nummy!!

  4. What time should I be there for the appetizer and beer. Your main menu looks fabulous as well but I loooove appetizers and finger type foods!

Good luck and have a great day!!!

  5. Sounds yummy - you're working way too hard!... sit down and rest!!

Next year have a potluck (I've got it down where I only cook the turkey & dressing - everyone else brings the rest!)... No stress, no worries I can just enjoy my guests.

    Have a fantastic thanksgiving!

  6. We do pot luck as well...I usually make the very labor intensive stuffing...but since I have a newborn, and we're all sick, I just get to bring the pies...I believe Mrs. Smith will be doing the baking...or maybe Sara Lee...nobody doesn't like her. ;)

  7. By the way, that's a LOT of cooking for someone who hates to cook!!!! But I also know you happen to be an excellent cook, even if you don't enjoy it. :)

  8. Oh yes my family brings stuff to help out too - I'm not personally preparing all that's on the "menu" - one SIL offered to bring the turnip, "Mom's" cranberry sauce, the banana bread and strawberry trifle, one SIL is bringing the apple pie and pudding pie, and my Dad is bringing some wine and a vegetable tray. So I definitely have lots of help! :-)

  9. Save me some Jalapeno poppers and Mozzarella sticks. I can never get enough mashed potatoes.

What time does this feast start?

I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving!

    P.S. Thanks for dropping.

  10. Oh man your menu is so cool- with the appetizers and wine- oh yeah and the chocolate pudding pie. Except I am a ham girl- I do not like to stick my hands up anyone's icy cold butt to pull their neck and gizzards out-

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
