Here's My "Randomivity"

I'm giving a nod to fellow blogger "Mags" from Maggie Moo Talks 2 U. She does "Randomivity" posts, and today seemed like a good day for me to try one...

* I am trying to reduce my use of exclamation points.

* I can't find a replacement for our broken Apex remote.

* You will not ever see me wearing Crocs.

* Marc Summers (from "Unwrapped" on the Food Network) has had too much plastic surgery.

* I am sorry people, but I LOVE WINTER!  No sweating, no bugs, no having to put sunscreen on every time I want to go outside!

* If I could have picked my own name I think I would have chosen Laura.

* I recently ordered American Girl doll Samantha because she's being "archived" (retired) and I always wanted her, but thought I'd always have time to get her.  So she'll be my birthday gift.  Only thing is, my birthday isn't until...April. :-(

* I like Balto.  I've seen the statue in Central Park of him.

* Why do singers have to remake songs that were already great?  Now I have to listen to your crappy remake, which now cuts in half the amount of times the radio station is going to play the good original!  My current gripe is Barry Manilow's remake of Bing Crosby's version of Jingle Bells.  Bing Crosby, people!  How dare he??

* It's just easier to be me.  It's too hard to try to be someone else.  (I was going to put an exclamation point there, but I resisted.)

The end.

  1. good list,... and I also think i use the exclamation point far too often as well as the three dots, ( ... ) You will never see me wearing crocs either! I tried on a pair, and they seemed so wide. I guess i would have chosen Anne for a name,... with an "e" like Anne of Green Gables,... ooops, there are two uses of the three dots. I will not use an exclamation point here. As hard as my fingers are trying to type one. Smiling.

  2. This is a really good list. I'm guilty of using too many exclamation points as well. :)
My birthday is also in April, and I like Balto too. There is a statue of him here in downtown Anchorage, and I always get the urge to reach out and pet it every time I walk by. :)

  3. Not a Croc fan either :o) And I'm with you on the songs' remakes. It's not just Mr. Manilow though ;o)

  4. Hi! Just a quick note because item #5 jumped out at me: you actually do need to be vigilant about the sun's effects even during winter! Just because we're cold doesn't mean all that UV ain't hitting us still... Yes, we're more bundled up, so we need to be concerned about in wintertime is the face... so if you use makeup with a good SPF number then you're fine... remember to check that your lip balm has sun protection too... and sunglasses are a must - the sunlight reflecting off the snow can be really bad for your eyes.

And I totally agree with you about the remakes of songs - just leave them alone, and let the classics be!!

[p/s; very amused; the word verification for this ocmment is "tomater"]

  5. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't use exclaimation points enoough.
I love the Samantha Doll, I have been secretly planned on getting for my daughter, so at least we would have one in the house. I wish we had the money to buy one, oh well maybe she will come out of "the vault" at some time like the disney movies.
    Crocs are gross!

  6. Very nice. I like winter too. I wouldn't go as far as love but I enjoy living somewhere where I get to have a fire and then there are the reasons you listed!

  7. I really like the idea of randomivity! That's sort of how my brain seems to work lately!

  8. LOVE IT!!! I'm with you on the Crocs! I love winter too, for all of those reasons~and this one... You can always add more layers, but you can only strip so far... Barry Manilow needs to be shot for that~among other things. And AMEN, be you! You'll be the best damned YOU there could ever be! ...And I guess I'm with you about the exclamation points too *whoopsie!*

  9. I like when people wear Crocs, because I know in advance I don't want to talk to them.

  10. It is difficult to let go of the old exclamation point - I know I use it too much. I don't wear crocs either, and I like winter, and I think Laura is a cool name. You seem to be a person with good taste. :)

  11. Not only do I use exclamation marks too often, but I'm hyper-aware of how many times I use the word "just." Maybe I don't use it more than the average person, but somehow it stuck in my head that I do, and every time I'm about to use it, I ask myself if it's really necessary. Maybe I'm just paranoid?

    Love this list!

  14. Cedar - I think Anne is a very pretty name - I like more traditional names. Glad to hear others have trouble restraining themselves with punctuation too - heh! :-)

AK Mom - Ah yes, of course you would know all about Balto! We just visited the statue of him in Central Park this weekend.

Ivanhoe - Yes, you are totally right - there are many singers besides Mr. Manilow guilty of making inferior remakes!

Lynne - Thank you for the important reminder about protecting our skin from the sun even in winter. I do use a face cream with a high SPF. Having been an Avon rep I know that sun exposure causes your skin to age faster. Not to mention the skin cancer risk.

Aria - I am SO GLAD to find someone else that likes winter too! You and I can huddle together! :-)

John - Which do you think are worse? The Crocs or Dr. Scholl's (remember THOSE)? At least Crocs don't make that horrible slapping noise when you walk like the Dr. Scholl's did.

Clarence - Why thank you for your compliment! I can see you are a person of discriminating taste. :-D

Kathy - I have never noticed you overusing "just" - your self-restraint and willpower must be working. :-)

Nessa - You see, I feel that if I just throw around exclamation points willy-nilly they lose some of their exclamation-point-ness. I'm "ruining" them by using them too much. I kinda think I use smilies too much too. :-O

Glitzen - it's ok, I still love ya even if you do wear Crocs. :-D

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
