Our Trip to Yankee Candle Flagship Store

 This is the Mass Pike

Well, the day started off a bit snowy and cold, but we somewhat spur-of-the-moment decided we wanted to visit the Yankee Candle flagship store in Deerfield, MA this Christmas season.  (Not REALLY spur of the moment, but we decided just a few days before.  We usually plan ahead more than that.)  We've been to the store before, and it's a really fun place to visit.  A big part of our motivation to go is that they have a fabulous display of Dept. 56 villages, and as you know if you're a regular reader, I have some pieces from the New England Village and DH wanted to get me a couple more pieces for Christmas this year.  (You can see *my* village so far in this post.)  The other Christmas disaplays they have though are really beautiful too - they even have an area devoted to different countries of the world.  Probably the coolest thing is there's an area where it snows every four minutes!  (I think it's actually soap flakes.)

Of course we had to take the opportunity on the way out for some quick cache-and-dash geocaching along the way.  If you're ever at a rest stop, and you see something like this:

It's probably a geocacher!  (That's DH "hunting".)

So we arrived at the big Yankee Candle store and I was so happy to see it wasn't nearly as crowded as I had feared.  The store itself has many sections - including a cafe and toy store.  It takes awhile to go though the whole thing.  There's even an area where they demonstrate how to make candles, and another area where you can dip your own, it's a pretty cool place.  And have you ever seen a bigger candle than THIS?

To be continued...

The end.

  1. Wow, you were up late...ah, er, early...nice to know I wasn't the only one! :)
So was DH looking for a microcache, since it seemed like he was looking for a magnetic one?

  2. That sounds like so much fun! I love seeing the scenery etc. in your neck of the woods. So different than what we have around here. I love all things scented so I'll be looking forward to more pictures.

  3. Oh my The Mass Pike I've been that a hundred times.

It's always fun!! the candle shop sounds familiar too. I may have been there.

But, it wasn't in Boston. It was in another little small town.

I can't think of the name of it now.

Glad you had a good time!:-)

  4. Ooh yankee candles, I love them but over here they are ridiculously expensive. How do they rate over there, are they expensive too? I bet they have some great fragrances this time of year, hope you had fun!

  6. I took my mom up to that store when we were living in CT, it's fabulous! My daughter was about 3 and we hand dipped candles that I still have, what a great memory!

  8. That candle would do great duty in our bathroom for those less than pleasant smelling moments!

Okay, can't believe I just typed that. :)

  9. Wow! I am a total Yankee girl! I won't buy other candles, or I feel like I am cheating! Love 'em. My latest is a Spiced Apple Housewarmer I got for $3 at a garage sale. Score! I bought a friend a Brown Sugar and Cinnamon one for Christmas.

  10. Krissy - Yes, that was a "micro" geocache DH was looking for. I think that one was one of those "hide-a-key" type, if I remember right.

Cynthia - I love all things "scented" too. Seems like the Yankee Candles are the best ones - unless you've found something better? If so, share!

Shinade - the Yankee Candle flagship store is in South Deerfield, MA - and it is a small town, so maybe you have been there since you seem to be remembering it right. :-)

Claire - Yes, they are still expensive, but they always seem to have a sale on seasonal scents - buy one get one 50% off, which is a pretty good deal. Also if you sign up at their website and give them your phone# when you check out, they send you coupons. Every little bit helps!

Bella Casa - I love me some Yankee Candles too, and to be honest, I'm set for awhile now! :-P

Lynne - that's neat that you've been there too! Yes, for it being a store, it is a pretty fun place to go with the whole family. At Christmastime they even have Santa AND Mrs. Claus.

AK Mom - You don't have Yankee Candle in Alaska?? Well, you can always go online. If you watch they often have good specials and stuff. Wow, I'm bummed for you! :-)

    Mik - LOL!!!!!!!

Glitzen - Now wait a second - you live in Alaska too - where are you getting YOUR Yankee Candles from? Online? Or is there a store AK Mom doesn't know about?

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
