Part 4: Holiday Weekend Wrap Up and We Have A Winner!

And, so here finally is our tree!

I was amazed that the very first person to comment got the price on the nose in my little guessing game!  We paid $45, which DH and I thought was a fair price.  I am also going to give credit to Krissy, who guessed $48.75, which is probably about what it cost with tax, which they did charge us.  (I'm too lazy to get a calculator and figure it out exactly.  I hate math.)  So I hereby bestow link love and fame and glory to:

AK Mom from What's Baking
(if you scroll down a bit on her blog and look at her dishes, I have the same ones!)
&
Krissy, who also is one of my Top Commenters

I have to say, it is nice to have the tree up already, but it was a lot of work to do the very day after I hosted Thanksgiving.  I don't know where we got the energy to bring ALL THESE BOXES OF CHRISTMAS STUFF up from the basement, and then put back down when we were done!!

The day after we put up the tree, I set up my Dept. 56 New England Village.  That was not work.  That was fun!

I kinda can't believe I ended up posting all week about our Holiday weekend - hope you didn't mind! :-)  If the weather holds out this weekend, I will have something interesting to blog about next week...

The end.

  1. Wow! I can't believe I guessed correctly. I thought for sure that I was way off, so I'm so surprised that I was right on the nose. :)
I've really enjoyed reading about your holiday weekend. Your Christmas tree and your New England Village are gorgeous! Reading about your trip to get your tree and putting up your decorations, and your beautiful photos have definitely helped to put me in the Christmas spirit.
Thanks so much for the link love!! :)

  4. Congrats AKMom! Carole, it looks wonderful!!!

I hope we get everything done this weekend. Little one's birthday (my son, not Jesus!) is approaching too, so I'd like to be done before then (the 19th). I am *very* slow.

  8. With tax it should have been $48.71...so I was $0.04 off. Not bad!

  13. AK Mom - yeah, I couldn't believe it - first person gets it exactly right! Good job! And btw, I was happy to give link love to you - you cook up some really delectable looking stuff. And nice dishes, btw (haha).

Jen - Yes, it's an accumulation of 14 Christmases and a husband who likes to save everything. Believe me, if I thought he wouldn't kill me I'd have a dumpster here tomorrow. :-)

Rebecca, Tahimbo, Krissy, Mountain Woman, Georgie, Joy and Petula - Thank you SO much for your nice compliments - you guys TOTALLY, TOTALLY made my day - thank you! :-)

  14. Empty Envelope - Yes, I have a DD who has a birthday coming to get ready for too. Luckily she's older now though, so it'll probably be a sleepover with just a couple of other girls. Take heart, it gets easier when they're older. :-) Hope you managed to plow through some of the decorating. :-)

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
