This is a man trying to pick out a gift
(in case you don't recognize that look)
....when it comes to being romantic and picking out gifts?
Especially with Valentine's Day coming up (HINT HINT DH) I was searching around trying to find some suggestions for DH but you know what? It is not very easy to try to explain to someone HOW to be romantic, or HOW to surprise me with a nice gift without exactly telling him what to get, ya know? But I found this GREAT website - it's called Bella True, and it's an online jewelry store, but they have a GREAT section called "Tips for Guys". Ladies, this section is SO FUNNY but it's great!! It is totally written in "guy-speak" and it basically tells them in simple directions stuff like:
"Dating 1 month – You want to explore things farther.
Tell her with a pair of earrings. You should know by now if her ears are pierced or not. ( <--- Haha, I love that!) Tip: Choose something close to a style you’ve seen her wear. If she’s sporty or professional, simple hoops or studs. Casual and flirty? Something larger or longer that will move when she does."
"Your Anniversary - Hey, remember when you got married? She does. And because every anniversary recalls your wedding day, remembering them isn’t enough. They’re to be celebrated. This is especially true of the milestones: one, five, ten, twenty and the rest."
My favorite section is "When I'm Sorry Isn't Enough" - not only do you get another funny picture of a confused guy:
"I know I'm in big trouble, how am I going to get out of this one?"
But they have different scenarios - here are some excerpts:
"Okay, let’s make one thing clear. No gift makes up for our crappy behavior. If we can’t say we’re sorry and mean it, we don’t deserve her."
"Dude – even we’re not sure she should put up with your crap anymore. Her friends have heard all the details, and the locks have been changed. You are on your own."
They have advice depending on what he did - here are the categories:
"I Goofed"
"I'm a Jerk"
"I'm Out in the Cold"
"I'm Right on the Edge"
"I'm History"
There's even a list of the months and their birthstones, a list of anniversaries and the gemstone associated with it, suggestions for engagement rings, holidays - you name it - pretty much any occasion a guy would need help with, it's here.
But here is the BEST PART - all these sections have examples and suggestions of jewelry that would be appropriate for that occasion or situation! You KNOW guys love things to be easy when it comes to shopping - it doesn't get much easier than this, and the jewelry is REALLY NICE!
In fact, it just so happens, AHEM, our 15th wedding anniversary is coming this May. I checked under "Anniversary" on the website, and for a 15th anniversary the gemstones are "Rhodolite Garnet, Ruby". So then I went to "Gemstones by Color" and under "Red" one of the suggested pieces of jewelry was this ring:
It's a Genuine Ruby and Diamond Ring in 14k Yellow Gold
OMG, isn't that gorgeous? Come to think of it, since it's red, seems to me it would even make an excellent Valentine's Day gift, wouldn't it?
Size six (cough, cough). (Well I can hope, can't I?!?) :-P
Anyway, if you like jewelry and your guy looks anything like the guys in the pictures above when it comes to gift giving and being romantic and you want to try to help him, send him to Bella True's Tips for Guys.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy, problem solved!
The end.

I'm with you Carole,..that ring is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! That looks like an interesting site:).
ReplyDeleteThe ring is beautiful though not for me. I prefer simple rings and don't like rings with lots of stones. I prefer one BIG one hahahaha
ReplyDeleteGreat site though. Thanks for sharing!!
That is a gorgeous ring, Carole!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly would be a wonderful Anniversary and/or Valentine's Day gift. :)
That ring is super yummy! Reminds me of the jewels in Windsor Castle in England. Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny site! My hubby would need to also have a machine that removes his credit card forcibly, knocks him out cold and purchases the ring. LOL. He is well, thrifty. :) Great tips though...brilliant idea for a website! Love it.
Great ring!
ReplyDeleteMy DH intends to get me a Wii Fit for Valentine's Day. Not the most romantic gift ever, but I want one so it's okay.
Good luck Carole! It is a beautiful ring.
ReplyDeleteGuys either get it or they don't. I gave birth on Valentine's day several years back and all I got was a big fat nothing. No chocolate or flowers! This is one of the many reasons he is an ex.
Go buy it yourself and charge it to his card. Wrap it up and leave it on the table for him to give it to you. He'll probably appreciate it.
Lol, I love this post. When I was dating Hunni, he used to sed me some really cute stuff for holidays and always included lingerie and sexy" gifts" as I call them. They were great but I was always afraid to open his gifts in anyone's presence lol. The good thing is the lingerie was gorgeous and it was always the right size without me telling him what it should be. I liked that part alot sinc it showed me he was paying attention, even if it was stuff i wasn't about to wear. Can't have it all right?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ring, I chose a ruby and small diamonds for my engagement ring instead of a diamond. Now I call it my companion ring since I don't intend on getting married till I'm 65 if I'm still alive.
ReplyDeleteJust a word of advice for guys reading this--be sure your girlfriend/wife actually likes jewlry and wears it. I personally do not wear jewelry and would be upset if Gerard wasted our money on it. Most importantly, get something she'll like. Me, I like stuffed animals. I have several that even talk, some sing that Gerard got for me.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Hey Carol, That is a really beautiful ring. I have a the same preference as fragileheart. I like them a bit simpler.
