My First "Thursday Weigh In"

If you've been following my blog, you'll remember last Thursday I joined Weight Watchers (if you want to read all my reasons for joining - again - and what I'm going to do different, you can get caught up HERE).  And I decided that I would report each week on my "weigh in day" how I did.  (I figure I could use the support of you guys either cheering me on, or wiping away my tears, or talking me down from going to McDonalds...)

So, here goes.  Drumroll please........................

I lost 4 pounds! Woot!!!

Now, I know I can't expect to lose 4lbs every week - I know according to Weight Watchers that's more than they want you to lose in a week, but I ate all my "points" - I didn't starve myself or anything.  (And it's not because I'm suddenly drinking more water because I always drink a ton of water all the time, diet or no diet - I know for a lot of people that's why they have a big loss the first week.) (And no, I didn't sneak in a diet pill either!)  Oh well, I know there will be weeks when I don't lose anything at all, so you will have to remind me of this extra good weigh in! :-)

I was actually really curious to see how I would do.  In the past when I've done Weight Watchers I have focused a lot on exercise and earning activity points that I could "eat".  But I don't regularly exercise when I'm not on Weight Watchers, so this time I decided to try to be as "normal" as I could (HA HA) so that hopefully once I lose the weight (AGAIN) maybe I'll do better at keeping it off and not rely on exercise I don't do, or Boca Burgers that I don't eat when I'm not on Weight Watchers.  So, I was curious to see without really exercising how I would do.  Clearly, the results show this strategy is not holding me back, so, yay!

And I didn't have much trouble "getting back in the saddle" with Weight Watchers - it was pretty easy to slip back into doing it.  21 lbs to go!

(I'm eating a Lean Cusine spinach & mushroom pizza while I type this. All the pizzas are pretty bad to be honest. And the "paninis" are even worse. I know a lot of people like them, but they honestly make me gag.  My two fave frozen entrees are the Smart Ones 3 Cheese Ziti and the Smart Ones Lasagna.  I had some Thai one the other day with noodles and peanut sauce that I think may become one of my new faves, it might have been Lean Cuisine.)

Anyone else have any news to report on your quests to get healthy? I'll be happy to cheer you on, wipe away your tears, or talk you down from McD's if you need it! :-D

The end.

P.S.  Cindy informed me in the comments that she is doing a Wednesday weigh in...well Thursday is close enough to Wednesday, isn't it?  So I'm joining up with her, and you can see how she's doing too over at Fenced in Family's Wednesday Weigh In

Ok, totally never thought losing weight could be anything but torture, but this could actually be fun!

  1. Excellent,.... 2 lbs a week from here on would be grand. You did great! I'm going to start the old counting calories thing again,... can't seem to budge all of the 7 lbs. i gained over holidays. And drinking LOTS of water!

  2. Way to go! That's so exciting, and I am thrilled for you. I started a Wednesday weigh in over at my blog because I'm trying to lose weight too. I just started so I don't have any success to report yet.

Feel free to come over and sign the Mr Linky if you'd like. I thought if several of us joined together, we could give support and stay on track better. (I'm hoping!)

  3. Yeah! Way to go!
Like you mentioned I am focusing more on making changes that I know I can stick with. Like not "starving myself" to lose weight fast just to gain it back when I start eating normal again. I find that I feel a lot better when I exercise regularly plus if I have a high calorie day I at least won't gain weight if I worked it off in the gym that day. :-)
Today was one of those days. For some reason I just was craving fattening food! We went to Chile's for lunch and I PIGGED OUT! So, not such a great day health-wise but I am headed of to the gym in a few hours.

  4. I'll be back on WW this Monday with a Monday weigh-in day. Carole, I'd be happy if I lost 1 lb the first week -- good for you with 4! I'm following a different stradegy, though, I commit to going to the gym EVERY DAY! But not to get points, just to get my butt in shape. So, we'll see how our different approaches go. Still gonna count points. Sometimes I don't eat all my APs. But I totally need to get into cardio shape as well as lose weight (75 lbs).

  5. Good for you Carole!!!

I'm going to try the exercise thing, but it's just too darn cold out there to go hiking right now. Brrrr! Maybe I can make laps around the kitchen/living room in my house?

  7. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My weigh in day is Tuesday. The first week I lost three pounds, and the second week I gained one. Maybe I gained some muscle from working out...or maybe I overestimated my activity points that I ate. LOL Anyway, I bought a scale and measuring spoons (they look like serving spoons), so that I can keep better track of how much I eat. What a bummer to gain a pound the second week, but I never lose weight fast, and I always give up because of it...I have 100 pounds to lose...ughhhhh Anyway, I am determined not to give up this time, and even if I don't lose much weight, I will surely be healthier. Love you lots!!! Saving my 35 extra points and all my activity points for that torte, ham, and pumpernickel dip on Sunday!!!!!

  10. Hi Carole, I know how difficult it is to loose weight. Iam healthy from my childhood days and now Iam 33 even now trying to shed down a few extra pounds. Yes of course I loose weight after work outs of 6 months but again put on weight very soon in 2 months lolz:)) This is happening for the last 18 years :( the thing is my mom eats more than me but never put on weight.

  12. Carole you are one of the sweetest, most giving and supportive people I have met online. I tried to leave a comment about your boots, but it didn't go through...I think they're cool, but I'm not graceful in any type shoe or boot so would fall in anything.

I wish you all the best with WW, I hope they don't still try to embarrass people with their weight gain like they did my best friend a hundred years ago....At least longer than you are born... Best Of Luck...Jude

  16. Good for you.

I am getting larger, if that's possible. I do not wear western boots anymore; I'm too fat so they look stupid.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
