Our cat Basil had to investigate...
Q-ee however, decided he wanted to keep a safe distance....
When we gathered up the lobsters we found this - I am presuming it's lobster pee?? Now that's something I've never seen before! Weird, huh?
We have a few special things for eating lobster - here are the cutesy plates (FYI, we do not need, nor do we follow their instructions for "How to Eat a Lobster).
These butter warmer things are really handy - the tea light underneath keeps the butter nice and hot.
And here is a shot mid-way through our dinner...
I guess Basil kitty could smell something good in the bags that the lobster and crab came in!
Eating lobsters and crab legs is a messy business. A great thing about eating at home is you don't have to worry about getting butter or "lobster water" on your fancy blouse or silk ties - and you can get up lots of times if you want to wash your hands. I will rarely order a whole lobster at a restaurant because it's just so hard to eat without making a mess. Besides the dripping butter, there's always water that comes out of the shells and there's usually a bit of white "goo" also. Also, at home I like to cut open the body and wash out the "tamale" - at the restaurant they leave it, and I don't care to eat it. (I forget exactly what that stuff is anyway - sometimes it's green and sometimes it red - don't tell me, I don't want to know, I kinda just like to block that part out.)
Here's the "aftermath"...
I question why anyone would want to read this little "photo essay" of our New Year's Eve dinner, but hey, thanks for humoring me! :-D
The end.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
