Pants made of napkins would be handy - then at mealtime you could just wipe your hands on your pants and not feel guilty about it.
In the olden days in order to turn on your car's hi-beams you pulled the lever toward you, your hi-beams would click on, pull it toward you again and they'd go off. Now it seems many cars are designed so that you have to push the lever away from you to turn the hi-beams on, then pull to turn off. This is MUCH HARDER TO DO! Who changed this??
I like to see if the blogger "captcha" spells anything when I leave a comment.
The little Dell logo at the bottom of my monitor is shiny and reflective and sometimes I must be looking just right because all of a sudden it looks like it's floating out in 3-D - it's just like those "magic eye" drawing things, it's weird.
There are some people's blogs I visit and comment on often, and have for quite some time now, but they never (or almost never) comment back on my blog, I don't even know if they ever even visit? (And no, I'm not talking about a celebrity or anything.) It's not like I expect everyone to always reciprocate comments with me, but on the other hand...I don't know...
For those on Twitter - I frequently check who is following me and if you "unfollow" me after I follow you, I "unfollow" you right back, just so ya know.
I vote we put Ann Coulter and Al Franken on an island and let them duke it out.
How do you pronounce favicon?
NASCAR season is almost here! Yay!
When a person isn't nice to me, difficult thought it may be, 95% of the time I still am nice to them. But just so you know, it's not because I don't notice they weren't nice - I notice. And it feels really crappy. Thanks.
If you don't update your blog in a long time I take you out of my favorites (all right, except for you JKMBACPA).
Speaking of that, Mr. Soleh, time for a new outburst.
I've been having dreams about Alaska lately, I seem to have a fascination with it. (I think it might be partly because of Saddlepotatoes' blog.)
Speaking of that, I can't wait for the Iditarod!
Why don't some blogs offer the option to subscribe to the comments (I prefer by email)? How am I going to remember to come back and see if anyone else left comments? I always subscribe to the comments if it's available.
The end.
I love this post - I like the part about twitter - they follow you only to drop you once you follow them! I am probably one that lurks more than comments and I am trying to be better at commenting.
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Nancy
I read more than a hundred blog posts a day on Google Reader. That's probably true of others....reading without actually stopping by.
ReplyDeleteI get over 7,000 hits per day on my blog sometimes. I'm REALLY glad they don't all post comments :-)
If you write something you'd like feedback on, make sure you say so in that post. That's why I am typing right now :-)
We all have different expectations, free time, brain power, etc. It's not a slight to you. I would not have known you want comments if you hadn't said so....and I'm afraid I will most likely forget tomorrow.
People love you. Write for the sheer joy of it :-)
Nancy - Yeah, I caught onto that Twitter "unfollow" trick pretty quick thankfully! Thanks for coming out of "lurkdom". :-D
ReplyDeleteWendy - You have enough on your hands just trying to survive each day, heh! I truly don't expect you to spend your time commenting on blogs all day, nor do I expect everyone to comment, by ANY means! However, there are some of us bloggers who are trying to earn some money from our blogs - and within this group we try to help promote each other's blogs by visiting, giving links, and commenting, etc. I guess when I wrote my comment about people "not commenting" I was in the mindset of a few people from this group - I've tried to be a good "networker" to help them out, but I don't think they're coming back here to visit me? Oh well. I do write mostly for the enjoyment, but I admit I do have another "angle" going. :-) And I do love reading your blog Wendy - obviously you write because you love to. I check in at your blog often a few times a day. So thanks for your comment and please just take care of yourself - you don't ever have to comment again if you don't want to! :-) Go cook up something super yummy instead! :-D
I love these freestyle posts! And yeah, what's with the high beam thing? My husband's car is like that and if I use his car at night (rarely), I get screwed up pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteLaughing about the Mr. Soleh blog. I don't understand people who always drop on me, but don't really blog. How much money could they possibly be making from it with two posts a month?
I try to visit all blogs of people who comment on mine. I don't always leave them a return comment, but if something strikes me, I do.
Hehe... these were awesome. I love the napkin pants and I want kleenes sleeves as well please for when I have a bad cold.. hehehe!
ReplyDeleteI'm always nice to people that are mean to me. Always! It's in my blood and that's why I work in retail/customer service. I take a lot from people.... *sigh* but gosh, it still hurts at the end of the day... I just hide it well.
I'd love to go to Alaska... It's beautiful!!
And thanks so much for dropping by my blog, it means so much to me!
Take care!!

Loved the post. Really cool stuff there. My captchas often spell out words that seem appropriate to the post. I left a comment on one blog about it once. Weird stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't people comment. I sure wish they would even if it's just to say Hi. I get back to everyone's blog who comments on my blog even if it takes me a while.
NASCAR. I used to live right near one of the big speedways. Could watch the Blue Angels fly over on race day. That was cool.
I'm always dreaming of Alaska. Never been there though.
According to webdesign.about.com/od/favicon/g/bldeffavicon.htm, favicon is pronounced "fah vih kahn".
ReplyDeleteYou could order a bunch of pants they make you wear when you're sitting in on a c-section...they're made of paper...:)
I must still have a car from the olden days cause I still pull my lever for my hi-beams...what irritates me is when folks never turn theirs off when they're coming at you.
I never knew what those things were called...captcha...sometimes they're really funny and I think I ought to say something...right now, mine is punsent. :)
Oh no, Nascar season...LOL I never got into watching cars drive around in circles for hours...but my Dad used to love it, and my son is fascinated, so I guess I'm in for watching cars drive around in circles for hours...
Lots of people are mean to me a lot of the time, and I'm usually nice back anyway, because that's the Christian way to be. However, every once in awhile, they get me angry, and I loose my patience and do or say something not so nice...not a good example for my kids, and not very Christian.
I try to remember that I have to pray for them, and if they're that mean, they're probably miserable people, and I'm glad I'm not them.
If you ever go to Alaska, take me with you.
Now, dogs running in snow, I get! :)
Yummy low point stuff I have in my kitchen...cut up onions, peppers, and mushrooms to use in an omlett, stirfry, or whatever, whenever...lots of fruit, lots of other veggies, Flat Earth chips, 100 calorie bags of cookies, WW cookies and cream bars, Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cones, turkey breast, 4C water flavor packets, sugar free pudding, sugar free jello, and 1 point string cheese. So, anything I want to snack on is okay, and they're all really yummy. :) Admittedly, I get a lot of points because I'm nursing full time, but that will end in another three
months. :(
Keep it up!!! :)
Good Morning Carole! What a neat post,... I like how you think. When people began discovering my blog and commenting I would follow back and read their blogs. Naturally sometimes it didn't "click" and we haven't become regulars for each other. But a lot of folks have become regluar on my reading list, and I consider them my "blog friends"... like you. So,.. I'll see you out there on the blogging trail....
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I think a lot of us think some of these things but you combined them all together and made them into a hilarious post. I absolutely love the idea of putting Ann Coulter and Al Franken on an island. What fun!
ReplyDeleteBy the way your "captcha" for this comment spelled ovoiliqu. huh?
What a wonderful post!! You had me almost falling out of my chair, because I was laughing so hard at quite a few of your observations. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to Alaska - although I would recommend coming in Summer, since we're still suffering through below zero temperatures and have been for the past two weeks. :(
The captcha for this comment is "menesso". :)
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I do mostly stories with a few pics thrown in and try to give people a smile. Speaking of the napkins- pants idea it's great as I often catch heck from my mother, oops, I mean my spouse, for wiping hands in the wrong place. Is that a GSD I see there? I love them
ReplyDeletetroutbirder
I'm sorry I haven't commented, I do stop by.
ReplyDeleteAl Franken and Ann Coulter on an island...you have a new reality show and I would pay to see it. Those two are the most annoying in the political sphere. I think Ann would win.
You can now subscribe to the comments on my blogs...I did it just for you!
I have a lot of these same small thoughts as you, except for the one about the pants made of napkins. Never thought of that, nope. But ESPECIALLY about Mr. Soleh, yeah.
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of blogs a day, plus I try to update all of mine (8+) regularly. I don't comment on any unless I have a burst of energy or something really, really strikes me. But I do still read what is written, and in my head, I do think the words of responding to posts. It's just that the words in my head don't come out of my fingers for typing all that much. But comments to one's posts are very gratifying.
Great questions!
ReplyDeleteI try to comment for everyone who comments on my blog. Sometimes it takes me a few days, but if someone took the time to comment with me, I want to return the favor. Also, I have found that most people who comment are people with whom I have something in common and enjoy visiting their blogs.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing on Twitter. I also don't always follow people who follow me. I have to admit, they have to look interesting to me. Since I have stopped following everyone, I have had many fewer people drop me.
I would love to see Ann and Al on a desert island. Also, the rest of us wouldn't have to listen to them :).
I love all that random stuff. That's the way my mind works most of the time. I lack focus..Ha! Of course you SHOULD come and visit me here in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteI love the high beam thoughts. I have such weak high beams that dear hubby tells me to just leave them on, but if anybody ever flicks at me, to warn me, than I should dim. So I stay alert but nobody has told me so I guess I just have lousy high beams! :)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Iditarod. Did you know we have a tourist business for the Iditarod? My husband flies clients along from checkpoint to checkpoint, all the way to the finish. Sometimes I fly up to Nome, then come home with him in our plane together. I do a big unit on the race, in our homeschool, and we all pick three mushers to follow. We each pick a Rookie, a Contender, and a Champion. This is my method I developed so the children see all parts of the race, and all of its unique challenges. We update our mushers hourly on our charts (we walk around with clipboards.LOL) using the Cabellas website. We can also look over the days' photos from the trail and look for Daddy.
I don't get twitter too much yet, but I have never unfollowed anybody..and I enjoy your thoughts on there! :)
Sometimes I chuckle when I do my word verification, and think "does anybody ever name their children one of these words? Like, they are almost due and have no name yet, and then they are blogging one day and say aHA! Here is the name. Today, it would be "weedmons". (I think they might get teased in school.....)
Since my 25 year old husband has no guilt for wiping anything on his shirt while eating we have "white trash shirts" if he wants to be lazy and ruin a shirt it can be one that already has holes and stains. No, he isn't allowed to wear them out very often, but they come in handy around the house.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise.
As for Al Franken and Ann Coulter -- I think Ann would win because she owns guns and Al, last I knew wasn't in favor of guns... Though I think he might think it was a bad idea as he was running for his life (I'm thinking Pete Puma saying "That was a stupid thing to do. EEeeeeech!").
ReplyDeleteI had always heard favicon pronounced fav (a sound as in bat) - eye - con.
I think that a napkin (or those soft paper towels they make) shirt, with napkin tie for mouth wiping, might be better than napkin pants. Now if something drips on your shirt, no problem! Also, wiping you mouth on your sleeve, or blowing your nose on it -- WIN!
Funny story about the high beams thing. I drove my friend's (Ed's) car somewhere and he had the push to turn on the high beams and my car (an old Mercury Marquis), had the pull-toggle kind, and I remember driving down the road holding the stupid stick back to keep the high beams on...
Very funny post. I love the napkin pants idea. I completely agree about the high beams...what I really think they should bring back is the round metal "clicker" just to the left of the brake pedal that would turn high beams on or off. In my opinion, that was much easier than doing anything with a stick on the steering wheel.
ReplyDeleteAs for napkin pants vs. napkin shirt and tie, how about just plain old napkin overalls? That's what my husband wore for the second c section...he looked way cool. :)
ReplyDeleteNo, in the olden days, you put the high beams on/off from a foot switch on the floor near your left toe. I have this in the ol' Bisca-yuna. Only inconvenient if you have a standard transmission (also from the olden days).
ReplyDelete-
Even I am disappointed in my failure to post on my blog. It's not really a winter-friendly blog/activity, though. And now I am really busy; homework again for another year at least! I like to lurk on my own blog...what?
-
When people aren't nice to me I also remain nice to them on purpose; that way they will feel real bad later (psychological revenge).

JKMBACPA
Krissy: enough with the c-sections already.
ReplyDeleteI'm gettin' woozy.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI also check the captchas too to see if they say anything. I've read some pretty interesting ones in my time. Also, favicon, I have no idea. Sometimes, I am very glad that a blog is a written work because some of the new terms, I have no idea how to say. Whatsoever.
ReplyDelete(my captcha right is now is forkca- interesting, sounds like how I would guess how to say fork in some other language)
Carole, you always make me smile. I enjoyed your random thoughts! I don't twitter but my sister is always trying to get me to do it. I barely use a cell phone. I'm too young to be so old. Sigh.
ReplyDeletePants made of LAYERS of napkins would be even better since you could peel off layer by layer as the barbecue sauce accumulated.
ReplyDeleteFor a while I kept a running list of Captcha phrases because I thought they'd make a fun blog post. I stopped because I seemed to run into captcha less often and it was taking forever. I have noticed that Blogger security words have become "real" words lately, which are much easier to work with than the former handfuls of letters. For example, the word I have right now is "idelop".
I volunteer to get Al Franken on a plane to go to the island to duke it out with Ann Coulter;).
ReplyDeleteHi this is my first visit to your blog and I must say I enjoyed your post very much, it made me want to read to the end and then I HAD to see the comments too. If only one can always have the inspiration for something that will interest the millions of bloggers out there. You achieved it with this post, well done!
ReplyDeleteYou are funny! I like this post. Just dropping by, hope to come back!
ReplyDeleteYou are now officially my top commenter...you rock!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll talk about the d sections. ;)
ReplyDeleteBy the way John, thanks for the illustration of how God did not make men strong enough to bear children. ;)
ReplyDeletefavicon - fave eye con
ReplyDeletecapcha - elingl
I dislike the push-pull high beams too. I much prefer the pull-pull type.
Al Frankin - No one likes him, and that's, "okay".
I'm right with ya on NASCAR and the Iditarod!!!!
JKMBACPA still has a blog?
I vote we put Ann Coulter and Al Franken on an island and let them duke it out.
ReplyDeleteHow about just Coulter? ^_^
Captcha: nolliesp - nopes, no words this time.
I love this post - I like the part about twitter
ReplyDeleteOh, you're funny. This post cracked me up. I'm totally digging your "napkins as pants" idea, but what happens if you spill your water? And I so agree with you on the car's hi-low beams issue (I still remember when the high beam button was on the floor board, right down by the brake peddle). I wonder why they ever changed it to a lever? Cheaper?
