Thursday Weigh in and Winter Weather Excitement

Well we had yet another winter storm yesterday.  School was closed and it snowed, then iced, then rained.  We plowed and shoveled after dark last night, hoping to wait until the precipitation had stopped, but it really didn't matter because the temps had warmed enough to melt things and puddle up and make slush.  Which all froze solid overnight.

You may notice the absence of my truck in this photo.  That's because my truck is parked at the bottom of my driveway.  I did manage to make it down to drive DD to the bus stop (I slid a lot - our driveway has a steep part), however I did not even attempt to drive it back up.  Even walking up it would be impossible.  So I got to walk back up through our yard and 6 inches of snow.  In sneakers.  Niiiiiiiiice.

Would you believe two of my neighbors actually slid off their driveways into the snowbanks (one made it out, one had to leave her SUV where it was) just during the time I was out bringing DD to the bus stop and driving back to my house?  The good news is that the sun is out and things are actually melting, although the temp is only 28.  I'll have to try to bring the truck back up later when I go to get DD.

Or not!

Anyway, not to keep you in suspense any longer because I know you are just dying to know how my diet is going I'm sure (cough, cough), I am happy to report I have lost another 2 lbs!  WOO HOO!  (This "not exercising" plan this time seems to be workin' for me, heh.)   Maybe last time I was just eating too much food back for all the acitivity I was doing (I still lost weight but it didn't seem like this fast).  In fact, I THOUGHT that in the past we were told to eat all our APs (activity points), however, when I looked now it says you can eat them, but you might not lose weight as fast.  Is that a change??  I totally don't remember them saying that.  Whatever.  The bad news is after these three weeks of nice losses, I feel I am due for one of those dreaded weeks of "no change".  We'll see what happens.

One little note here, I made a big salad the other night and I cut up a whole bunch of veggies to put on it, and it looked so pretty I took a picture of it.

 I call it, "Attractive Vegetables"

Times like that make it seem like eating healthy isn't so bad after all, ha ha!

The end.

  1. Our driveway wasn't quite as bad as yours, but still I walked to the steep part and threw handfuls of rock salt on it so my wife could safely drive down.

Later, I walked down with my DD. I didn't want to risk taking the other car down unnecessarily.

The sun is out now, and where we are, the temperature has climbed above freezing, so hopefully the hill will be okay for when I have to go to a meeting this afternoon.

The question, of course, is what will it end up like tomorrow morning.

    Be well and safe.

  2. Yeah, that driveway is not something a bag of salt is going to take care of, huh? LOL - That is a LOT of ice! Same thing here. Melt and freeze, and now the Sun is taking care of some of it. Be careful with all that ice, and hope your neighbor gets the car out.

  3. That is a lot of ice for one poor driveway. Be extra careful when you're going out and about!
Congratulations on the 2lb loss! You're doing a great job!
And I love the picture of the veggie tray. It looks so beautiful!

  4. We have ice but not as much; we got clobbered with snow, about 8 inches (not the 12 they were predicting). Yeah, I used to work at a radio station perched on a mountain and the roads would slick over like that. Nothing like going backwards down a hill...

Congrats on your weight! I love your photo! I'd eat like that every day, all day long, but in the winter fruits & veggies cost more than meat & pasta! :S

  5. YAY on the weight loss and WHOA! The veggie platter is super cool! I would eat everything there except the 'shrooms cause they give me um... *belch* yeh... gas... LMA0!!
But seriously, the veggies is awesome and great for diets and stuff because it keeps your mouth busy chewing so you think you are full before you finish!
I'm a vegetarian and eat a lot of veggies and lost almost 60 pounds eating tons of veggies and drinking lots of water!
    I'm proud of you!!

  9. GOOD FOR YOU!!!!! I actually gained 2 pounds, but I lost 6 pounds of mainly water last week, so I still count that as keeping off another 4, and I'm happy. That still averages a pound a week, which I am very happy with. And with two sick kids and a sick husband and a sick me no less. :)
    Keep it up!

  10. That ice looks pretty trecherous- you were wise not to attempt the drive back up.

I noticed that I was losing more weight before I started exercising too. I think it's because I paid closer attention to what I was eating because I knew I didn't have any wiggle room w/o exercise.

Good for you on the 2 lb. loss. That's a great total for a week.

  12. I agree the veggie picture looks as if it could be in a magazine. Actually both shots are very lovely.

Oh dear I am sure I will get some pictures from my husband via cell phone.

He loaded in Connecticut last night and is headed back south this morning.

He has been in ice and snow all the way from California to New Jersey.

We use to live in Maine and I remember many days such as these. we got a little ice from this front. but, nothing compared to you guys up there.

hope you get some relief soon!:-)
