Pooh's Thoughtful Spot is located halfway between Pooh's house and Piglet's original house. It is protected from the wind and is a good spot for "deciding what to do today". This spot right here is my "thoughtful spot".

What's the Craziest Thing Your Friend Ever Sent YOU in the Mail?

I have a very good friend - "M" - that I have had since childhood.  There are many, many things that I love about her.  I have learned not to be surprised by anything that she does - she can have some wacky ideas, but some of them are darn good.  In fact, she is the one we have to thank for telling us about geocaching (if you have no idea what that is, you can find visit my other blog which you can find in the right sidebar).  Anyway, a couple of weeks ago she calls me to ask, if she can have sent to my house overnight - not flowers, Omaha steaks or Festina watches - no, she wants to have sent to my house Mexican Jumping Beans.

Turns out, she needs them for a class she is teaching in her homeschooling group.  (She specializes in science.)  The company wouldn't ship them to her house because according to their "map", where she lives is too cold to risk sending the jumping beans.  However, my house was just south of the "line" and they were willing to send them here.  So since my good friend was coming into town anyway to visit family (and me!), she figured they could be sent here and she'd pick them up when she visited.

Did you know there's a little worm inside that makes them jump?  We opened the package when she was here and she let DD keep some, and we read the included information.  I'm a little freaked out about them.  :-O  If you would like to be freaked out too, you can read more here, and there's even a pic of the worm inside: Wikipedia - Mexican Jumping Beans.

"M" has brought many fun, crazy and wonderful things into my life.  Once she made me a "Godmother" to a hydra (some micro organism thing) she had collected from a pond. She took me climbing up a mountain called "Breakneck" (that's really the name!) at NIGHT for my birthday one year when we were teenagers.  Her Dad inspired us to get our Ham Radio licenses.  And, she also also happens to be the one who helped me discover a personal relationship with Jesus.  I'm really lucky to have her for a friend.

So these days when "M" calls me up and says, "Don't think I'm crazy, but I have a favor to ask you...", I just say yes.  :-)

Do you have any crazy or wacky friends?

The end.

She sounds wonderful! I think I am the crazy wacky friend. At least my friends tell me they are glad I have talked them into so many things.

But, I do have one friend named Weird Lori. She was normal Lori in college, as my roomate, until we got another roomate named Lori. The other Lori was so calm, sane, organized and normal, that we just began to call MY Lori, Weird Lori. And the name has always stuck. She sent me a frog in the mail five years ago. I named him Prince Charming. And I still have him! We had a running frog joke, so she sent him to me. Best.gift.evah.

Have fun with your Weird M. :)

I think I'm the crazy one too...I once sent someone a box of junk food with enclosed literature describing the "junkfood diet". I also gave someone a home made game called "Don't Step on the Salami". I've never given or received anything living in the mail, I don't think...and I've never met anyone crazier than me... Hydras are really cute, by the way. They look like little trees...really, really, little microscopic trees. :)

PPS. I just realized I'm not in Clancy's blog! OMG-how crazy am I? So...you don't have a squirrel as a pet and I didn't ship you a cake.

(Sorry!) Unemployment is making my brain soft! LOL!!!!

Daisy the Curly Cat had some jumping beans as pets, but they soon "deaded".

It's nice that your friend let you keep some.

Nice to be back doing normal things and reading blogs again. I always enjoy reading your posts and I think your Christmas Village looks lovely, even the Gingerbread house.

I can't remember anyone ever sending me anything weird in the mail, but it's great that you have such a unique friend that thinks about you....take care.
