Thursday Weigh-In and Other Stuff

A shot of our backyard. I know a lot of you hate winter, but I love winter.

Well I squeaked by with a 1 pound loss this week, which to tell you the truth, I was kinda disappointed about.  I mean I totally know that I should only expect to lose a pound or two a week - which is fine, but, I SHOVELED SO MUCH SNOW AND CHOPPED SO MUCH ICE THIS WEEK and I DIDN'T EAT ALL THOSE "ACTIVITY POINTS" BACK so you'd THINK for all these SORE MUSCLES I could've maybe lost one more pound??  Bah.

So I watched Lost last night.  Any other Lost fans out there?  We've been watching since the very beginning.  This season so far is great.  Last night's episode was really good - wish I could say more but DH didn't get a chance to watch it yet...  We are also Survivor fans and DH just IM'd me that on the TV Guide network tonight is a "Survivor Tocantins" preview at 8pm.  Lost, Survivor and The Office are pretty much the only 3 network tv shows we watch.  The Office is actually my favorite of them all.

Tomorrow the drafting takes place in our fantasy Nascar league.  I studied up on who will supposedly be good this year (no matter what the websites and magazines say, it's a crapshoot anyway in my opinion).  But I do have my favorite drivers and my own little strategies, so I'm crossing my fingers.  There were three drivers I left out all together that I didn't want at all, and I wasn't going to mention them here before the draft in case that changed what anyone else was going to do, but I don't care, I'll admit that I didn't want Jeff Gordon or either of the Busch brothers.  I don't mind Jeff Gordon THAT much but I don't want him on my team.  However the Busch brothers I cannot stand.

In a couple of days we are going over to my Dad's for dinner to discuss summer family vacation plans.  Yes - can you believe we all go on a family vacation together (my family, my brother's family and my Dad)?  And we live to tell about it?  And we do it again?  We have a lot of different locations "in the running" so I'm curious to see where we end up deciding to go.  Although, DH and I can pretty much find fun things to do no matter where we are, so I'm not worried.

Anyone have their summer vacation planned already?  We went to Ogunquit, Maine last year.  In fact, if you'd like a break from the winter doldrums, you can read my posts about our vacation last year and see the pics from Maine here, here and here.  Where are you planning on going this year?

The end.

P.S.  Almost forgot - if you want to see how Kristine and Cindy did on their Wednesday Weigh Ins, you can check in with Kristine at Dr. Mom's Spot and Cindy at Fenced in Family!

  1. Congrats on your 1 pound loss! Maybe the calories burned from all that activity will show up NEXT week. (Hopefully, right? Lol.) Thank you for the encouragement you gave over at my blog...I really needed to hear that!

  2. Congrats on your one pound loss. You may be building muscle and that weighs more than "fat"...( need lots more muscle and lots LESS fat!) I would be happy with a pound a week,... gee, that's 52 lbs. for the year! My summer plans are coming together already, too. Some camping trips and bluegrass festivals. We're on the home stretch, it will be spring soon.

  3. Congrats on that 1 pound. I used to get disappointed too with just a pound but oh well, it's better than not losing at all after all the hardwork, lol.

Btw, you have been awarded. Please grab it here.

    Cheers!

  4. The Office = best show on TV.
Don't like/ dislike the Busch brothers, but their beer is OK.

I don't think it's an accident that the TV commentators did not say anything positive about the departing GWB; like me, they probably could not think of anything (previous post).

  5. I've found that sometimes it takes a week or so for the extra activity to show as weight loss. Last week I worked out HARD and only lost 0.8 lbs. This week, I slacked a little on exercise but kicked it up a notch on the eating and I lost 2 lbs.

Maybe you just need a week for all your hard work to show up too.

Beautiful yard by the way- it looks so peaceful.

  12. Although I'm doing better this time around because of nursing (hope that doesn't gross out John LOL), I usually only lose about 1/4 of a pound per week, IF that. My Mom thinks that it's because I chase a toddler and take care of an infant...that could be too. :)
I think one pound is absolutely commendable. Look at one pound of butter, and think that's gone from your body (which is beautiful anyway). :) Keep it up!!!!!

  13. Isn't dieting fun (eyeroll!) makes you want to hit yourself in the head with that snow shovel! LOL

On a happier note... I wanted to come by and tell you that you've been tagged... Pretty sure it's a new one, so come on over and get the details. Great day to you!

  15. I used to play Fantasy Nascar, too. I got tired of it after a few seasons though. No matter how good I was with my research and picks, somebody always wracked them (or they crashed) and it was all over :o)

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
