We're Goin' to Virginnny!

Whew! I am relieved to report that the house was still available for the week we wanted and so we are booked for our vacation in Chincoteague, VA!  This is the third year we chose a house from Cyberrentals.com and it's been a great way to find a place to rent, and it's so much more cost effective than staying in a hotel for 7 people.  Not to mention you generally get WAY more room than in a hotel, you have a kitchen so you can save money by eating in, often there's a washer and dryer which is a nice convenience, often times a deck and a yard, etc. etc.  In the house we stayed in on Cape Cod there was an outdoor shower, which was a big hit.  Last year in Ogunquit the house had a hot tub, which was the big hit.  You know what also was a big hit last year that I would never have expected?  In the livingroom there was a chessboard all set up on a little table with two chairs.  I could not even tell you how many games of chess were played!

It must take a lot of trust to rent out your vacation home.  I think I'd lay awake at night worried the renters were partying and trashing the place.  I wonder what the home insurance is on a rental property?

On another note, you ever have a day where you just feel fat?  Well I am having a day where I feel thin!  I am hoping hoping that means a good weigh-in on Thursday.  I will hold on to that cheerful thought because I have a load of housework ahead of me today.  First thing I have to do is empty the dishwasher, then siphon water out of the bottom.  We've been having a problem where all the water doesn't drain on the last cycle.  I searched online and we think we might know the problem, but DH threw his back out yesterday and is in no shape to be crawling into the dishwasher.  Our GE appliances SUCK.  They are only 6 years old and so far one burner on the cooktop is out, the turntable in the microwave broke, we already had to replace the bottom rack in the dishwasher because it completely rusted, and now the draining problem.

Niiiiiiice.

The end.

  1. Well, Carole it will certainly be a joy for you to get away from all those broken appliances, lets just hope all the appliances in the rental work. Not sure when you're going, but have fun.

  5. I bet you're going to have a wonderful vacation, Carole. At least it will be nice to get away from the appliances. :)

  6. I love Chincoteague! I went there with my mom many eons ago when absolutely nothing was commercialized there. If Sugarbaker's Bakery is still there, have a little treat for me.

  7. A vacation sounds so great right about now. I'd love to get away to a beach house somewhere warm. I've never done the house rental thing buy my sister has along the Oregon coast and says it's the BEST way to go.

Glad you're having a thin day! Here's hoping we both have decent weigh ins this week.

  8. sorry about your dishwasher. Wondering how you're going to siphon that! I'm real careful, when putting dishes in, not to let water accumulate, but ugh, what a chore you have! That will keep ya going....

  9. What a great idea - rent a home - never thought about that! I'll have to look into that - wait - I can't go on vacation - where would the horses and dogs go? Oh well, I can dream!

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
