Self Control

See?  I only ate HALF my dinner at Charlie Brown's Steakhouse (chicken parm with pasta).  I saved almost all my "extra points" for the weekend.  It was my cousin's daughter's christening and I knew there would be a yummy dinner and CAKE!  I love cake.  In fact, I love cake so much I not only ate my piece but I ate DH's piece too!  (Isn't that nice to have a husband who lets you eat his cake?)  But they were small pieces, people, see?

(There was a scoop of ice cream with the cake but I only ate my scoop - DH ate his)

I never even knew they could do parties at Charlie Brown's Steakhouse.  They had us in a nice room - it was even called "The Library".  It was rather swanky - probably weren't even Discount Blinds on the windows.  Dinner was delicious and the cake especially so. :-D

We arrived home just in time to watch the Iditarod restart.  We are fortunate and had the extra money to purchase an Insider subscription that allows us to view daily videos as well as live events.  This year they have GPS transmitters on all the sleds so if you have an Insider subscription you can see on a map where any musher is at any time, rather than having to always wait for the mushers to show up at the checkpoints.  Even if you don't have a subscription I believe they show random mushers' GPS positions for free on the homepage of www.Iditarod.com.

We spent Saturday geocaching - I have some fun pics from that I'll share this week - found some cool geocaches and took some good pictures down by the icy Hudson River...  Hope you all had a good weekend!

The end.

  1. Yum, Carole! I wish we had a Charlie Brown's Steakhouse up here. I don't think I would have had the self control that you did though. :)
I'm glad you got home in time to watch the Iditarod restart. It was only about 5 degrees here on Saturday morning, so I ended up watching the "ceremonial" start on t.v., rather than hiking out on the trail to watch it live and in person. Just too darn cold. :)

  2. I am sitting here, at 10:20 am, eating a piece of that leftover cake. OMG it is delicious. It's also 12 points. Ack...I asked myself, is this worth 12 points? The answer came quickly...
    YES!!!!!
    MMMMMMMMMM
I'm also going to go out and try to find that geocache by me again...your DH hint was VERY helpful! I was looking in an ice cold place...no wonder I haven't had any luck. LOL
I'm so glad you had a nice time yesterday...I did too...and I also have half of my lunch waiting for me in the fridge. Yummy!!!!!

  3. It's not an easy thing to do, eating only half of your plate-great job! :) I'm especially weak when it comes to things like chicken parm, too.

That cake does look good-and I'd say you have a keeper for sure. My ex-husband loved cake so much that I started thinking I hated it for a while...because I could never get any!!

  4. You did a great job controlling the eating,.. I would not have done so well as you did. Today is my "day #1" and I'm already hungry, an hour to go to lunch time. I must cut out at least half of the sweets i've been eating this winter. you are setting me a good example! Congratualations!

  5. That cake looks delish! I think my hubby would give up his piece for me, too. He's not big on cakes :o)

  6. I'm not sure I could ever leave half of a chicken parm on my plate. That's one of my favorites.

  8. Good work on the food! For some reason, Ilve been finding that if I have one decent sized biggish meal a week, out or somewhere, it actually helps. I have no idea why. Or maybe it's just positive thinking! LOL

Can't wait to see the pics!

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
