Modern Technology Helps Me Bring Home Right Thing From Plumbing Store

Due to circumstances beyond his control, DH had to send *me* to the plumbing supply store to get something.  Normally I hate when on occasion I have to go to an auto parts store / Home Depot / hardware store etc. and buy something I know nothing about.  In this instance I had to get a water filter and DH didn't really know what the "official name" of it was to distinguish the exact one we needed, and I wasn't sure how I was going to come home with the right thing.  However, I had a lucky brainstorm and I asked DH to take a picture of where the filter goes.  I went to the plumbing store with my camera, showed the guy at the counter this picture and I said, "I need a filter for this thing!"

And yes, I came home with the right filter!  Probably saved me and the guy at the counter about 10 minutes of questions and a lot of grief. :-D

The end.

  1. That's awesome! Both that your DH had so much confidence in you (mine has none in me where Home Depot is concerned), and that you got what you needed from a picture. Brilliance!

  3. Another trick is to copy down the make and model of the item .... then it can be looked up in the store's system. I have no man in the house so all "honey do" lists are done by me. I've learned a few shortcuts... haha.. The camera idea is another great one.

  5. I've done that too! I love digital cameras! I've even taken a picture with my phone while at the store, to show my daughter something. Pretty cool!

  6. Fabulous! You have a good idea taking the picture, and you had a smart store clerk for knowing the right part without the model number.

  7. I am guilty of sending the other one to the hardware store with the same instructions ... "Get one of these." Your camera idea will undoubtedly save some angst in the future. Sorry I haven't been able to check in as much with getting ready for the move!

  8. This doesn't actually have anything to do with this blog, but I saw something on Daisy the Curly Cat's site. There is a picture of her being taken for a walk in her cat stroller...just like yours! :)

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
