Walked into the Room and Saw....

...DD got all our American Girl Dolls set up ready to watch an episode of Full House!  Do you see Moo Cow in the picture too?  Of course she could not be left out.

Did you watch the show "Full House" years ago?  It's become somewhat popular with the tween set, so I requested some episodes through the library for DD.  I watched a couple of episodes with DD and not only enjoyed the stories, but I marveled at 80s and 90s hair and fashion.  It's amazing to think even professionals like doctors and people in banking jobs had the giant hair, the huge jewelry, the shoulder pads and the blue eyeshadow too.  I remember it used to take me 45 minutes to properly curl my "feathered" hair with a curling iron and coat it with a helmet of Aqua Net hairspray.  Gosh it's a wonder I don't have scars from how many times I burnt my forehead with the curling iron.  And God help your hairdo if it was rainy or windy outside - can you say Destroyed In Seconds?

I do kinda miss the "slouch socks" though.  I liked those.  Is there anything you miss from the 80s?

The end.

  1. I think our dd's would be kindred spiritsMy youngest is presently obsessed with Full House. We also have a similar number of AG dolls. Just added Julie last month for Anna's B-day and will probably acquire Rebecca and Chrissa for Christmas. It's a disease I tell ya!

  2. Is it bad that I think that doll audience is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen?

As for the 80s, you should have seen how I tried to feather my hair. My naturally CURLY hair. It never worked, but I tried it anyway.

  5. I miss watching MTV for hours on end (back when they actually showed videos). My mom has two American Girl dolls. She makes clothes for them and talks to them, but as far as I know, she hasn't set them up to watch Full House.

  6. I went to Catholic School and had to wear a uniform consisting of either a dress or skirt. Since I grew up in "the city", there were no school busses, so I had to walk. My favorite 80's invention were leg warmers, which made walking in all kinds of weather and cold while wearing a skirt bearable. I, like Kathy, also tried desperately to feather my hair as curly hair definitely was not in style until the 90's. Thank God for the 90's, and for all the excellent hair products that have come out for curly hair.

  8. Wowzers!!! I love that pic, and my girls loved it too. They liked identifying each doll and their "pets" too. How fun!
Oh I miss slouchy socks too, and bandanas. So many things I don't miss though, lol.

  14. Okay ... if this were a psych test - The first thing I felt when I saw that pic, before I read the post? Fear! Creepiness! It really is pretty sweet. Kids and playing real-life with their toys is awesome.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
