More Thoughts too Short for a Whole Blog Post

My one cat and my dog drive me crazy in the morning on the weekend.  The cat starts loudly meowing if we aren't up by I suppose, what she considers "a reasonable hour" - so I have to jump out of bed, chase her down, and put her in the basement so she doesn't wake the REST of the family.  Just what I want to do first thing on a Saturday morning.  Even if the cat hasn't already woken me, the dog can sense when I'm awake.  My head doesn't even have to leave the mattresses - he just knows.  So then he hovers near me, shakes his collar, sticks his nose under the blankets to smell my butt - and then God help me when I do get up - it's a huge ruckus of jumping and signaling to me "Come downstairs! Feed me! Go right now! Yes, that's right! Over here! Feed me!"  This is why I am sitting at the counter typing this at 8:58 on a Saturday morning instead of still being asleep in bed like my lucky husband and daughter.

I love how the radio stations play Christmas music at Christmas time.  I love how on Christmas Day they play it continuously.  Except, have you ever been up late on Christmas night?  And had the radio on when midnight comes?  And then suddenly the Christmas music is off at 12:01 and they go back to regular music??  I HATE THAT!  The Christmas music needs to taper off in the same way they gradually play more and more the closer it gets to Christmas.  The Christmas music ends way too abruptly!!

I need a "food mentor".  For cooking, I mean.  I'm ready to be adventurous, but I need a leader.  Or maybe someone to inspire me.

I am NOT a big Facebook user AT ALL, but I do go on occasionally just to see what's going on.  I hate it when people use their kids as their profile pic.  If you want to have your kids IN your profile pic WITH you, that's fine.  But there a few of my "friends" that have JUST their kids' pic.  Now I could be wrong here, but the only reason I can think of that you would do this is if you gained a lot of weight since high school and are too embarrassed to put a pic of yourself on there.  Which I empathize with, but, just use a close-up face shot then, or something.  Not your KIDS.  I am friends with YOU on Facebook, not your KIDS.  And it's really freaky when your status update says, "Going out with the girls for some margaritas" and next to that is a picture of YOUR KIDS.  I'm sorry if you gained weight and feel uncomfortable putting a pic of yourself, but I'm sure if you try you CAN find a nice face shot.  Really, don't put your kids' photo on there as your profile.

Ok, I'm starting to wonder if this is me, but, when you order a Reuben in a restaurant shouldn't you EXPECT that you are going to get a little cup or bowl with thousand island dressing with it?  I have noticed that sometimes I have to ask for this, like just last night at the restaurant we were at.  Shouldn't they KNOW to bring that?  Or is thousand island dressing with Reubens going out of style, or what??

The end.

  1. I always thought it was weird, too, about the kids' photos on Facebook. Doesn't do anything to get me to know who you are. And a baby picture is worse. For all I know, it's a random baby they googled.

My cats get me up every morning at 5AM. They follow me into the bathroom, sit in front of me, and wait. As though they figure if they don't follow my every step I won't go downstairs and feed them. Then, they eat two bites and start their 7 hour nap. This is so much harder to deal with on a work day. I hate leaving the house, looking back at them all snuggly on the couch.

    ARGGGH!

  2. My cat wakes me up at 5:00am EVERY morning!! It's really quite annoying, but I don't know how to get her to stop doing it. I'd really like to sleep in at least one Saturday or Sunday. ;)

  3. Our cat will come and get my son when she decides its time for them to go to bed. Our other cat bites at the toes of the girls in the night trying to wake them up to play. They are both smart enough to know that Daddy doesn't want them in our room!

As for the food mentor- go check out Allrecipes dot com. They have awesome recipes that have photos and have been reviewed by other people. You can learn the tips and tricks for a particular recipe right there on the site!

I'm learning how to make the very complex French Macaron simply by trial and error. I've pretty much got them down now.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
