The Weather at My House Today

A shot of my backyard today

As you can see it's an overcast, rainy day here in upstate NY.  The temp is a damp and cold 49F.

Some people would spend today fantasizing about orlando vacations in sunny Florida.

But not me.

Sometimes I like cold, gloomy days like today where you can just "hunker down".  While a sunny day is energizing, a gray, gloomy day to me is relaxing and calming.  Days like today are good for staying home, cleaning, and doing stuff you've put off.  You don't WANT to go out and go anywhere.  I need these days now and then.  I don't even usually feel depressed by this kind of weather except at the end of March when the winter has just dragged on too long.

Does anyone else like gloomy days sometimes? Or is it too depressing?

The end.

P.S.  For quite awhile now, instead of using "The End" I have had this urge to put, "Love, Me".

  1. I love gloomy days. I'm an indoors kind of gal, and when it's sunny and nice outside, I feel guilty for not doing stuff outside.

No, when it's cloudy, rainy, gray -- I'm at my happiest, snuggling inside with my cats and a good book.

    That photo looks so inviting!

  2. Love the gloomy days as long as they don't hang around for days - we have had rain off and on now for about 10 days here in the midwest and we are getting tired but I do agree Carole that the "hunker down" mode will hit on one of these days and it's amazing what you can get done and not get stressed about doing it! Hey, BTW, check-out my giveaway over at the ranch - for Breast Cancer Awareness.

    Take Care.....

P.S. I sign all my e-mails to my parents with Love, me!

  3. My dogs don't always like walking in the rain. And I don't always like taking them. LOL But dark days are good for getting down in front of the computer and working. And maybe taking a nap too.

  4. I love a weekend day like this, when I don't have to be anywhere and I can sleep in and then take an afternoon nap.

  5. I like gloomy days. They give me an excuse to stay in and get cozy on the couch with a good book. :)
Your weather looks very similar to ours right now, Carole.

  6. Gloomy days always make me think the atmosphere has PMS. You can almost feel it in the air that the sky just needs a good cry. It's like that here in Las Vegas today too. I'm snuggled up with laptop and cat.

  7. I agree with you that gloomy days are necessary and welcome. HOWEVER -currently I am living far from my upstate NY home, in St. Louis, MO and we have had more rain and gloomy days than we care to count. Records are being broken! I need a good sunshine day and I hope it comes soon.

  8. I LOVE gloomy days! It's snowing here in Utah today- first snow of the season. You know, the good kind that looks pretty falling but doesn't stick around!?

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
