Mmm! Heath Bars!

There's our pumpkin man, finally, in all his glory

Well, that's how the front of our house looked yesterday afternoon for Halloween.  Not exactly awe-inspiring like my friend's display over at Small Pines, but, festive none the less.

We did the trick-or-treating thing yesterday and finished up the night at my mother-in-laws' house and hung out with DH's brother and family as well.  My MIL had very, very few trick-or-treaters, which was really weird.  If anything, we would have expected MORE, being it was a Saturday and the weather was warm, albeit drizzly.  As we were leaving, my MIL pleaded for us to take some of the candy.  Normally we would have refused, but she had Heath bars.  I hadn't had a Heath bar in years, but wow!  They are super yummy!  So we took a bunch of those.  My SIL said I should try a Skor bar - she said those are even better, so now I have an excuse to be on the lookout for a Skor bar and eat one of those. :-)

Today when I awoke, our daughter had gone ahead and un-decorated from Halloween, and announced she wanted to decorate for Thanksgiving.  So, we just finished switching everything and the house is decorated for Thanksgiving.  I was going to say it is ready for Thanksgiving - but I have to do some cleaning to proclaim it ready for Thanksgiving.

DH even made me a whiskey sour.  That has become my official alcoholic drink of Thanksgiving.  The tradition comes from DH's old Uncle Tom who used to make pitchers of whiskey sours for the adults way back when every Thanksgiving.  And there's a trick with the cherry - if you want a refill, you don't eat the cherry, if you're done, then you eat the cherry.  I just finished my whiskey sour, and I did not eat the cherry, FYI.  :-D

The end.

  1. I think your house looked very festive! i LOVE Heath bars. My husband prefers Skor. They are very close in taste. I wouldn't turn down either one of them.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
