More Thoughts Too Short for a Whole Blog Post

DH and I were not planing on it, but we ended up watching many episodes of Julia Child's old tv series "The French Chef" (I borrowed it from the library).  They were just so interesting and fun to watch!  She did each episode all in one, long take - left the mistakes in and everything.  We saw everything from a gigantor cod head, to her "Tarte Tatin" completely flop, to a beef foot.  Yes, a beef foot.

Went to my sister-in-law's church this morning to see my teenage nephew be baptized (immersion), which was really cool.  I have not been baptized as an adult, although I was baptized as a baby and I was also confirmed as a teen.  I've also made my own personal commitment to Jesus.  I kinda feel like I'm covered, but I'm still open to the idea of being baptized as an adult.  If I felt led to do it, I would.

Have you ever visited the Junk Drawer?  It's a very funny blog - if you aren't already a fervent fan, you should check it out. I would *totally* have kept tabs on a plastic grocery bag for over a year and named it "Windy" too!

It's not that I'm glad Jimmie Johnson crashed in the beginning of the NASCAR race, but by golly did the "chase" ever need some excitement!  If it's not boring enough that he wins all the time, he just seems to have no personality.  Jump around a little when you win a race!  Throw your helmet when you're mad once in a while!  Maybe cry a little!  Let the paparazzi take a photo of you taking out your garbage wearing pink bunny slippers!  Something!!

I drink leftover coffee.  You see, this saves me from having to make new coffee and then have to clean out the pot and filter/basket - yes, I'm lazy.  I just pour it into a thermal carafe and drink it later.  In fact, in this photo you can see that I had so much leftover coffee I had no more room in the carafe so I poured the extra coffee into a creamer.

What you do not see in this photo is that I reheated that coffee in the creamer and drank it out of same creamer.  Is that gross to drink leftover coffee?  Like, even days later?  I mean, I have it "hermetically sealed" in the carafe, and I did put plastic wrap over the creamer of coffee....  ???

The end.

  1. Thanks for the shout-out! Windy will love to see extra visitors.

OK. Ready? I routinely drink coffee from the day before. I don't care. It tastes the same. And I haven't died yet. So there.

  2. I also drink coffee that's one or two days old from the carafe. Coffee is expensive, so I find it to be frugal and not wasteful...it's all how you look at it! :) Of course, I could make less so that there isn't any leftover, but I'm too lazy to have to make coffee every single day. LOL

  3. The sermon at church yesterday was about baptism and how it shows you want to tell the world about your salvation. Not necessary to get into heaven it just puts a smile on God's face. How is that for a synopsis! LOL

If not for complaints from my husband, I too would be drinking my coffee like that. I call it "not wasting!"

  4. All the early Christians were baptized (immersed) as a public confession of their belief. It also symbolizes newness of like (see Romans and Colossians). I have never seen it as an option; it's an incremental part of being a new creation. I don't think God's going to strike anyone with lightning bolts for not getting baptized.. but if you know that doing it pleases Him, and you are able to do it without getting your head chopped off (many Christians around the world are persecuted and killed for getting baptized or owning a Bible), then why wouldn't you do it?

I was baptized before I became a believer (to join a church as a teen, but I was not a believer of Christ back then), and then after I became a believer; what joy! And one of happiest days was to see my kids get baptized when they became believers. You could do a Bible study on it.

Drinking old coffee-- I could never do it. It's too bitter for my stomach. As far as drinking it because it's "old"... well, I guess as long as it doesn't have a tangy, lemony taste to it, it's still suitable. Now how would I know that? Well, we had some old iced tea (no sugar) in the fridge over the summer, and I thought it was still good, so I drank it for two days. It had a weird taste, kind of grassy and lemony... I asked my daughter if she had made the tea differently this time. She said no. I inspected the tea jug to find big furry blobs of mold growing in it. If I think about it too long, I start to get kinda queasy.... who thought iced tea would go bad? But I'm living proof that you can ingest that stuff and still survive.

  5. You know, I fought the Keurig craze for the last year. A couple of my friends had gotten this and raved about it. I knew my husband would get all frowny and grumpy at the idea of it, so I didn't even bother to tell him about. I think in part because I wasn't sure about it myself. Well, last week, the man shocked and surprised for the 2nd year in a row. And insisted that I needed a Keurig. Had the thing for a week now and LOVE it. I could NEVER get it the coffee right in the regular coffee maker and I wasted far more than I drank. Now, I'm getting a perfect cup each time...and am using less creamer for some reason too. It's not for everyone, but I love it.

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
