This isn't a stock photo or whatever, this is the actual Hannaford I went to this morning I'll have you know.
I haven't mentioned this because I don't like to be a complainer, but, I've been sick most of the last week. It's some sort of stuffy head/lose your voice thing. Yesterday, circumstances necessitated that I pick up my daughter from school, and I knew I was going to have to speak at least a little bit once I got to the office. So, I decided that a good idea would be to get a cup of hot coffee on the way, which would not only help my throat and bring my voice back a little, but it's always a treat to get a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee (I always get a medium cinnamon coffee with cream, no sugar). As I entered the drive-thru I realized that I was going to have to be able to speak into the microphone at the menu board. Have ya ever tried to shout when you're hoarse?? Luckily, somehow, they were able to understand what I wanted. Kudos to the teenager at Dunkin Donuts.
Anyway, I was finally feeling better today, and did some long overdue grocery shopping. As I was standing at the checkout, slowly being hypnotized by the beep beep of my groceries going over the barcode scanner, I let my eyes roam over the magazines and tabloids. I felt a pang of sympathy for Sandra Bullock - what on EARTH was Jesse James THINKING?!? Then I saw a rack of the newly released "New Moon" (of the Twilight Saga) DVDs. I haven't seen it yet. I'd like to though. Then I saw a headline, something to the effect of, "Dying Liz Taylor spends birthday alone". Hasn't Liz Taylor been dying for like, the last 20 years? Actually, I can't believe she's even still alive! (I always feel bad when I'm surprised someone is still alive.) Is there anyone you've found out recently was still alive, to your surprise?
The end.
Edited to add: Ok, I can't believe this, but not only is Liz Taylor still alive, she has a Twitter account!! http://twitter.com/DAMEELIZABETH
I'm glad you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteIs Johnny Carson still alive? (he's probably been dead for 15 years, right??)
LOL, yes, Johnny Carson has passed on - but only in 2005. It's funny you mention Carson because I only found out like, last year that he had died. How did I miss that?? It must have been low key since you didn't know either! :-P
ReplyDeleteHannaford,... "chicken soup for the grocery shopper"... I love that store.
