Speaking of the Garden...

I keep making fun of our garden, but hey, look!  We grew those green beans!  Boy, were they good, too!

And look - we grew that zucchini!  We put olive oil and salt and pepper on it and my husband grilled it up on the BBQ.  Between the two of us, we ate the whole thing!  (Our daughter didn't like it.)

If we keep actually getting edible vegetables from our garden, that ought to reduce belly fat, eh?

Tonight my daughter brought in our first "crop" of lettuce, so we will probably have salad tomorrow night.  We'd better enjoy it, because I'm not so sure how much more lettuce we'll get.  Maybe we'll get enough for at least one more salad.  We struggled with the lettuce.  Our peppers are finally flowering, though there aren't many plants that survived.  The tomato plants look like they are doing well.  Maybe by next week I might have my first ripe tomato?  A week after that no doubt I'll be back here asking y'all what the heck to do with tons of tomatoes, LOL!  (Mine are just "regular" tomatoes - I don't know that they're good for making sauce out of....???)

If you have a garden, how is yours going?  What do *you* do with a million tomatoes?   I like tomato sandwiches, but I'm not sure how many of those I can eat...

The end.

  1. Fresh garden green beans are yummy. I was growing tomatoes, but my husband bought and sprayed the wrong bug spray on them. We had to pull them all up and trash them.

  2. We just picked our first batch of green beans the other day; cooked them up with some yukon gold potatoes we dug up the same day. It was sooooooo good!

We've had zucchini a few times, plus some fried okra.

With our tomatoes we love to make Pico de Gallo. A link to my recipe can be found at the end of this post: http://easyfrugalliving.blogspot.com/2010/07/big-harvest-day.html

I read each and every comment, and though I don't always get a chance to respond, I enjoy reading (and pondering) what you have to say. Thanks for your 2 cents! :-)
